Who we are
Desire the Fire Ministries was founded in 1984 by Dr. Robert Sutterfield, who heard the call of God on a mountain in Sparks, Nevada, with the words, “Desire the Fire.” Moved by this divine encounter, Robert dedicated his life to preaching the Word and igniting hearts with the fire of the Holy Ghost.
Robert and his wife, Dr. Rachinda Sutterfield, later relocated to San Jacinto, California, where they attended the School of Bible Theology Seminary and University and the adjoining church, Faith Tabernacle, under the leadership of Dr. R.E. and Dr. Laura Anderson. There, they received their credentials and doctorates, equipping them for the ministry ahead.
In 1990, the Sutterfields were called to Indio, California, where they founded Indio Christian Center, faithfully pastoring there for 34 years while further developing Desire the Fire Ministries. In 1992, they officially incorporated Desire the Fire Ministries in California. That same year, they launched Believer’s School of Ministry to educate, empower, and equip believers for ministry. Dr. Rachinda also founded Women of Class, a ministry uplifting women around the globe, which she continues to lead to this day.
In 2014, they transitioned from pastoring to apostleship, overseeing dozens of ministries under their tutelage. They now travel across North America, hosting Fresh Fire campaigns, revivals, rallies, and conferences, spreading the fire of the Holy Ghost and empowering believers to walk boldly in their faith.
Through the GO Project (Global Operations Project), Desire the Fire Ministries supports and establishes churches in Mexico, Honduras, Kenya, and Uganda. With plans to expand their reach even further in 2025 and beyond, this global initiative is dedicated to strengthening churches and equipping leaders worldwide.
The Sutterfields are blessed with three daughters, two of whom are in full-time ministry. Their eldest daughter, Stephanie, lives in Arizona with her husband, Philip, and their four children. Their middle daughter, LaTisha, resides in California with her husband, Rey, and their four children. Their youngest daughter, Tiffany, lives in Alabama with her husband, Hunter.
In 2024, the Sutterfields relocated to Montgomery, Alabama, establishing an east coast headquarters for Desire the Fire Ministries to expand their global impact.
They believe that the Spirit is Alive, Grace is Multiplied, and there is Fire to Thrive in 2025!
